Review
This is the car that?s going to be hauling my butt
in Gran Turismo more than any other car from
now on. The Supra has always been my favorite
car, in real life and in this game. I think the TRD
3000GT is the best car in this game; it?s definitely
the best incarnation of the Supra. In addition
to the GT Cup testing, I did a time trial test with
the 3000GT, Supra RZ and Castrol GT, all maxed
out, on the Grand Valley circuit. I figured
this track would be the only chance the RZ, with more
horsepower, would have to beat the 3000GT, since
it's probably the fastest course. I knew the
Castrol couldn't beat it on any course. The
TRD beat the Castrol by 5:404 seconds, and I fell
0:659 seconds short of catching the TRD in the Supra
RZ, spinning my wheels all over the course
trying to catch up to my ghost. The best thing
about the 3000GT is that it comes stock with
considerably more downforce than a stock Supra RZ.
It beats it stock 0.24 to 0.17 in the front
and 0.28 to 0.35 in t!
he rear. This extra handling ability makes
it easy to win the Stock version special races in (you
probably won't beat the NSX on the first track though).
When you upgrade to a racing body
(AFTER you "trade" yourself one or two extra since
you can't get another one, I don't think) the
3000GT looks just like the Supra RZ with racing body,
disappointingly. The only difference is the
awesome gold 6-spoke rims it comes with. That
truly makes a difference in terms of looks. It has
nearly the same horsepower when you upgrade to turbo,
and it beats the RZ in max adjustable
downforce, 0.76 to 0.70 in front and 1.01 to 0.96
in the back. (Castrol GT, 0.82front 1.00 rear) In
short, the 3000GT drives like a cross between the
two. You get almost as much horsepower as
the RZ and you probably won't have to lower the turbo
setting to keep the rear-wheel spin to an
acceptable level. It's also lighter than either
of the other Supras.
This car is dope, period. I couldn't believe
how far ahead of the other cars I got in GT Cup
testing. I beat the last car in one race by
almost 4/5 of a lap. Have fun with this one.
