THE NEW GT DRIVERS GUIDE
(Now run by Thoasiii:)

What's new?

Wednesday 20th January 1999 : 9am

Well goodbye old friends :( This is my last update for this site.  I was lucky and actually kept my job (suprising I know *LOL*) but now I have tons of work to do now that other people have been made redundant. Consequently I simply haven't got the time available that this site deserves to run it. FEAR NOT! The magical Thoasiii has downloaded the entire site through his equally magical cable modem and has now the proud owner of the GT Drivers Guide. He's agreed to take over the running and has re-vamped it as well ( he's done a good job to! ). So now all reviews should now be sent to him :)

NEW SITE!!! ----- Take me to the NEW GT DRIVERS GUIDE

I'd just like to say thank you to each and everyone one of you who have contributed to this site. I've had a really great time doing it and I've made some good friends. :)This site simply wouldn't have worked without all your help and commitment.  What started out as a simple storage site grew quickly into a full blown web site and will no doubt continue to grow with Thoasiii in the driving seat! Its been a fantastic 6 month ride and a lot of FUN! Thanks to you all :) See ya all out on that internet super-highway! *L*

Goodbye all!

King Spon :)

This is now the "OLD" site and is thus now......... CLOSED :(

03/12/98
Nuts :( Just found that my job IS at risk and they'll let me know the week before christmas. Life sucks! *boo*. Good news is that Thoasiii has cheered me up by sending in two reviews.! The FTO GR '94 amd the Nissan 180SX Type S. Thanks pal :¬) *L*

20/11/98
Phew! There's been a bit of hassel here at work. My company is making  people redundant over the next month but I've just found out I'm in the clear! To celebrate I have posted up 3 more reviews.  Sax_73 sent in a review of the Eunos Roadster V-Special and GTM is back with 2 more reviews! He's done the del Sol '93 Si and the Impreza WRX-STi Type-R. Thanks to you both! :-) I'm off to wind down after a stressful week! Have a good weekend all.

10/11/98
Hi there everyone! I've got two more reviews for you. Qmans done a very good review of the Supra '95 RZ and Jens has reviewed that monster known only as the R32 Skyline GT-R NISMO *L* Cheers guys! I've also got some GT news for you all. I found this whilst on my travels around the internet. It was at consolecity.....

"The Sound of Gran Turismo

On November 17th, The Right Stuff will be releasing the Sound of Gran Turismo, a CD soundtrack. The CD will feature such artists as David Bowie, Blur, Ash, Garbage, Placebos, Fluke and plenty more."

...I'm not sure if thats a European or USA ( or both!) release date though. See ya all later! :¬)

05/11/98
As promised, here is the review of the TRD 3000GT. Its been sent in by another new driver who has found his way to our little corner of the net! Welcome Hellion! He seems to have mastered the license tests! For those of you who are having trouble getting the gold's he suggest using the manual gearing to help keep the cars in the high RPM range as well as practicing your drift technique and cutting the corners as tight as possible! *L*. Cheers dude. :)

Thats 118 reviews now guys! Funky! :)

04/11/98
Back on track again with 3 more reviews! Some of the original "grand masters" of this GT site have made a guest appearance! The legendary Qman has sent in his review of the Supra SZ-R (he actually sent it in twice 'cos I lost the first one:( opps!!*LOL*:)) and SaVas ( the GT Retiree !) has sent in a review of the R33 GT-R V-spec. Cheers guys! Its good to see you back again. Sorry to hear about your crash SaVas. Why not use the insurance to buy and FTO GPX *LOL*.

We also welcome another new reviewer, Jens! He's done a review of the Dodge Copperhead road spec concept car for us all. Thanks dude and welcome to the guide! Oops! Gotta go! I can foresee a TRD 3000GT review arriving soon! I'd best get ready...*L*

28/10/98
Sorry for the lack of updates. I'm totally to blame :) I've had far too much work to do lately. Let me make amends by posting up 5 more reviews for you all. Goldfinger has done the Viper GTS and the Griffith 4.0 (or blackpool depending on which GT version you own). GTM has sent in the Galant VR-G Touring and the Eunos Cosmo 13B and Bibendum has done the magical Nismo 400R!. Thanks to all of you for your great work. The review total now stands at  114!

13/10/98
Hey! No less than 7 more reviews of ya! We have to thank Marty for sending in 5 of them! Seems he's courageously been avoiding university work to bring rush these in for us *LOL* They are the FC Savanna RX-7 Efini III, the Skyline GTS4, the Skyline GTSt Type M , the FD Efini RX-7 Type RB,  and the RX-7 FD '91 Type R. Cheers pal! Jim has also managed to squeeze in a review in between working! He's done the white Castrol Supra GT for us. Thanks bud!

To round off today's update comes a review of the FTO GPX by none other than Podein 25!! That's right! The Poder has come out of retirement  to spread his knowledge among the many! *L* Thanks Poder. Its good to see you back pal ! :-)

Thats 109 reviews now!

09/10/98
Hooray! We've now got over 100 reviews guys! *clap, applause, cheer*! The 100th review was the Skyline GTS 25t Type M sent in by Marty. He also sent in 2 other reviews, the MR2 G-limited and the Lancer Evolution III. To finish off, Jim has sent in his review of the Corvette '96 Coupe, so the running total is now 102 reviews! Cheers guys!

I'd like to say thank all of you who are taking the time to contibute your names to this guide. You guys are great!I'm really enjoying being a part of it! *L* So without further a do, lets get back to it! We're on the home stretch now with only 50+ reviews to go now, and once we've completed it I'll send all of you a nice executable version of the complete guide so you can keep it on your hard drives if you like.:)

Time to go off and enjoy the weekend! Have fun !!

08/10/98
Jims' sent in another review for us!. Today he's taken a look at the '89 R32 Skyline GT-R. :-). I got a mail from SaVaS today! He he says is still alive, but claims he's been hiding in the GT retirement home *L*. Anyway, gotta run. Speak to you all later.

06/10/98
Today we welcome another new reviewer, Jim :-) . He has sent me a review of the Viper GTS-R LM (in .html format which was nice!) and has offered the possibility of more to come. COOL! Thanks Jim.

On a sad note though, Autosport has reported that a driver in the French rally lost control of his car and plunged into the crowd. A 35 year old spectator was killed and six others injured, including a five year old child who is still in a coma.  We can only hope that this incident will prompt some action on spectators safety during rally events. I'm sure you've all seen spectators being able to stand right by the side of  the road and even stand in the middle of the road as the cars come speeding towards them, just trying to get that "last" photo! Surely not a good thing. I'm sure you all join me in sending our sympathies to the family of the deceased man, the driver, and all those involved in this unfortunate accident.

01/10/98
Hi everyone! A big update today. GTM has sent in no less than 5 new reviews!. They are the Demio A Spec, FTO LM, Primera '90 2.0te, Sil Eighty, and the FD EfiniRX-7 A Spec! Well done dude! I've also received a review of the Corona exiv 200GT from Marty. (cheers!:-) They should all be posted up now so check them out. By some extremely clever mathematics I've worked out that the reviews total now stands at 97! *hehehe*

I Apologies for the lack of updates recently but works been getting in the way. Thanks for your understanding and I'll speak to you all later. Take care :-)

24/09/98
GTM has continued his good work and sent us in review number 91!, the Eunos Roadster S Special. Thanks bud! :-) More to come soon........

21/09/98
The weekend has brought us some interesting results indeed ! As well as Biaggio being black flagged in the motorcycle Grand Prix and Nissan securing the British touring car manufacturers title thanks to Anthony Reid,  2 more reviews have landed in my in-box. SpinWheelz has sent in an fantastic review of the NSX Type S Zero and the "man from Nissan"( otherwise known as Thoasiii *L* :-) has finished off his mammoth examination of all the Silvias by reviewing the S14 Silvia K's Aero. Excellent work!

Well! With the Luxembourg Grand Prix and the last round of the British touring car championships on next weekend, I can hardly wait for this week to end now! *LOL* :-)

17/09/98
Hello and welcome to our new reviewer Marty who resides (on the other side of the world from me! hehe I luv the net!) in Australia :-) He's done a review on the Mazda FC Savanna RX-7 GT-X (thanks!) so go and check it out!  I am now bored at work again and have nothing to do for a while so feel free to send in any reviews you have lying around and I'll post 'em up. We're now at the 90 reviews mark! COOL!!

See ya all later.

11/09/98
GTM has sent in two more reviews! He's done the Accord wagon and the vicious Nissan R32 Skyline '91 and I've finished a review of the FTO GR which turned out to be quite a fun car to drive! :) GTM makes a good point of not using a full amount of turbo in his R32 '91 review as it become too much power to control in any decent way. A good tip for all the Skyline monsters *LOL*

Anyway another weekend arrives and I'm off to enjoy it. I'm going to the Farnborough '98 air show  here in England this saturday to see all the worlds mean machines of the air, and then Sunday will bring the joys of the Formula 1 grand prix in Italy! Lets hope the tifosi don't lynch David Coulthard eh! All in all a good weekend in prospect! I'd better go of and enjoy it! *L* Cya!  :-)

08/09/98
3 more reviews for you! D.Empire has sent in reviews of the Supra RZ and the Cerbera (nice), and Goldfinger has given us his views on the JZA70 Supra Twin Turbo-R. Nice one guys! :-) Unfortunately I've had to pull out of shiros turing car battle (sorry Neil) since I've got too much work to do and it also gives me time to concentrate on these reviews. Hopefully, when I get more time to myself, I can join in the fun!! Congratulations to Egad for his unbelievable times!, and well done to all who took part. See you all later and keep those reviews coming!

Total number of reviews = 86 !

04/09/98
Hey! Guess what! I managed to do review! *LOL*. Its the DB7 Volante. GTM has sent in a review of the Toyota JZA70 Supra Twin Turbo-R. So check 'em out and see what you think. We're over half way there now with a total of 83 reviews. Keep them coming! :-) I'm off to enjoy the weekend so I'll speak to you all on Monday. Have fun!

03/09/98
Well GTM is continuing his fantastic work by sending in two new reviews for us! He's done the RX-7 LM edition and the Celica SS II (which, in its mustard paint work, is one of my favorites! :) Its been rather quiet on the email front lately. I guess most of you are indulging in Shiros championship or trying to beat the times on V-turns site eh? Good luck *L* :) The review total now stands at 81 thanks to GTM's efforts. Cheers dude!

Oh well, I had better get back to my work or it'll never get done *L*. Speak to you all soon:)

01/09/98
GTM has sent me in a review of the NSX-R LM GT2 which is now posted. Thank you!. I apologize for the lack of updates recently but I've been overloaded with work again!. *sigh* :-(

25/08/98
Hi everyone. I've got some more reviews for ya! :) The Nismo GT-R LM by GTM (thanks!) and the DB7 Coupe by good old D.Empire are up and running. Also Thosasiii has done 2 more Silvia reviews. The S14 Silvia Q '95 and the S14 Silvia Q .  I've got a mountain of work to do this week so updates may be slow in the coming days. :( The reviews total is now at 78!

Cya later! :)

21/08/98
One new review is up today, the Celica GT-Four reviewed by D.Empire. Cheers mate! That's the 74th review! COOL! Lets see. What else....ah! ...Thoasiii has finished the online submitting form and it looks great!. Shiro Honda has moved his site so I've updated the link above and of course THOASIII'S GETTING MARRIED  TOMORROW!!! Good luck to you my friend! and congratulations! (no playing GT tomorrow night you here?! *LOL*) I hope everything goes perfectly and you have a great day! :)

I'm off to enjoy the weekend so I'll speak to you all on Monday! Have fun!!  :-)

19/08/98
The mighty Thoasiii has been burning the midnight oil and created an online review form for everyone. Its just like my template and once you press the submit button it sends your reviews directly to me in the right layout and format so I can post them here in the GT drivers guide! Cool eh! I've placed a link to it in the menu above so check it out!. He's also added a cool search engine to his pages as well as moving the whole site to a new address (I've updated the links:). All this and he's also about to get married to the girl of his dreams! This guy has been one busy dude! :)

No reviews again today I'm afraid. Most people seem to be quite busy and I've also heard from Jonathan Mawson that his memory card has been corrupted for the third time!! Bad luck dude :( I've done a link exchange with Shiro so you can all reach his site from the link above. Hopefully I can get a few more reviews up in a day or so. If you have any lying around please send them in. :) Well that's about it for today except to show you something that Byesnavatay found on the net :-

'Greatest' Racer Gets Sequel
"PlayStation: A sequel to Gran Turismo could be in the shops in Japan by the end of this year!. Developer Polys is believed to be in the planning stages of making Gran Turismo2. Early copies of Gran Turismo have been described as 'the best racing videogame ever', and the realistic physics of the game have been praise. However, Polys isn't resting on its laurels, and intends to overhaul the whole physics engine. Polys is also looking at including new cars. "

GT2 is on the way!!!! *LOL*

18/08/98
No reviews today I'm afraid, but I can tell you that Shiro Honda is starting a touring car battle over at his site ( click here ). I have teamed up with fellow Brit Neil Alves and we've formed "British Racing Team Spon" (BRiTS)  to enter into the competition.  Any one want to join us? I'm not sure how many people are allowed per team yet but mail me or Neil if you fancy teaming up with us *L* :)  or why not start your own team and join in the fun!

17/08/98
Whats new? Not much really :(  Just the one review today. Thoasiii has sent in a review of the S14 Silvia k '95 which continues his examination of the Silvia's. Cheers dude!

13/08/98
Today there are two more reviews for your viewing pleasure. The Efini RX-7 type RZ by D.Empire and the 180SX type X 95 by Thoasiii. Its just a quick update this morning as I've just been given loads of work to do *sigh*. Oh well, it hopefully won't take that long to get through. See you all later.:)

12/08/98
Well I've cleaned out my emails and added the last 3 reviews. The Corvette 96 grand sport by Goldfinger, the Griffith 500 by Thoasiii and the Eunos Cosmo 20B from a new reviewer, D.Empire! Thanks and welcome! With only nine reviews arriving whilst I was away I've now caught up and I'm ready for more! I might even have some time to do some reviews of my own! :)  V-turn has kindly added this site to his links page (thanks pal!:) and by my calculations we have nearly 70 reviews now! Nice work!!

Anyway, keep sending those reviews in and I'll speak to you all tomorrow!

11/08/98
I'm BACK!  What a wondeful holiday! I feel refreshed and relexed and a year older! (*L* It was my birthday on the 9th *joy*) I've just finished going through some of my emails and I have the following reviews to post....

Soarer 2.5 GT-T WT-i by the one they call "Thoasiii" :)
Camero Z28 30th Anniversary by Goldfinger
Concept car (Race Version), Viper RT/10 and MA70 Supra GT turbo by Qman!
Primera 2.0te '95 by Billips
Cerbera LM by Jonathan Mawson

...as well as some updates to the Demio LX G package and Fairlady Twinturbo 2 seater. Cheers guys!!  Thanks to Thoasiii for setting up a message board for reviews whilst I was away! and thanks to everyone else for helping me out!  You guys are COOL! :)

It seems there are a few more GT sites on the net! I've just looked at MaranelloMans site, which is coming along,  and V-Turns site which is cool to!
Nice work guys!

I'm off to see what other joys await me in my email inbox :)

31/07/98 - 10/08/98   --- On Holiday :) ---

30/07/98
My last day before my holiday *joy*. Before I run off for a week I've posted up four more reviews. They are the Impreza Wagon WRX 94 and Prelude '93 VTEC from Goldfinger, and the R33 Skyline GT-R '95 Vspec and Mark II Tourer V from the master SaVas. Thanks guys!
It's looking increasingly like its going to rain a lot while I'm away so I may end up turning into a fish and swimming home *L*.  Oh well.

Keep sending in the reviews!. I'll deal with the backlog when I get back.

Well, I guess that's all I have to report for now. I'll talk to you all again as soon as I return. I'm off to  to start partying !!! See ya!

29/07/98
Thoasiii has updated his site in a BIG way! I advise all of you to check it out 'cos its excellent!! I've added five more reviews. They're the MR2 GT-S (by CrispY), the Silvia Q '91 and Silvia K '91 (by Thoasiii), the Civic '93 (by Podein25 *who else*LOL*),  and the Fairlady Twin turbo 2 seater (by the mighty Qman). Cheers guys! At this rate we should  have at least  one review per car real soon!.. but we're not there yet so keep on testing.!(as if you need a reason to start playing GT ! hehehehe.)

Well nearly time for me to go on holiday!! I leave on Friday morning and won't return until Tuesday 11th August! I can't wait! I'm traveling 300 miles north through England on the back of a Honda CB500, but it looks like its going to rain all the way! *sigh* just my luck. The first weekend is a rock and blues music festival followed by 3 days of riding wherever we fancy and camping out. After that its off to Avon Raceway and Drag strip! for 4 days of big cars, big bikes, 24 hour beer tents, 24 hourr coffee tents!! (most important! *L*), another rock festival, strippers, comedians, and loads of other funky stuff. But it also means 10 -11 without GT, without a computer, without a bed!, and probably without a decent shower! *eugh*. Perhaps I'll stay at home instead.......NOT!*L* Please keep sending in your reviews whilst I'm away. Even though I can't post them until i get back, I'll do my best to catch up as soon as I can.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have become involved in this web site; all the reviewers and the helpers. With out you all this site simply wouldn't exist. Together we're creating a wealth of info that no true GT'er should ever be without , and , of course, having a good laugh as well ! :)

Anyway, I'll speak to you all tomorrow! Ta ta for now!

28/07/98
PHEW!  Eleven more reviews!!  SaVas, Kami, Maranelloman and Skot have all sent in new reviews and Podein25 has reviewed all the Civics (nice job!). Thanks to all of you! :).  I'm off to have a well deserved coffee break! *L*

27/07/98
Hi everyone! Thoasiii has created a spreadsheet with all the reviewed data on. Check it out here. He'll be updating it in conjuction with this site. Nice work Thoasiii. I've added SaVas' GTO Twin Turbo '92 review and Podein25s' CR-X EF-8 SiR review so check them out to! Gotta run! My boss has given some serious work to do (THE SWINE!! *LOL*). See ya all later!

24/07/98
Well another weekend arrives for us to enjoy! :) Its payday for me as well, so I fear my weekend my be full of fun! *L* I've posted up 5 more reviews for you from Thoasiii, SaVas and Podein25. Enjoy!,  and I'll speak to you all on Monday. Let the drinking comence!  Fill the bath full of tequila and bring on the dancing girls *L* Cya :)

23/07/98
3 more reviews are up! The legacy Touring Sedan RS from SaVas, and the Integra GR-R and Prelude from Podein25. Can you believe it! In the first week since this sites been running, I've received no less than 32 reviews! COOL! At this rate it won't take us long until we've got at least one review for each car . Once this is achieved I'm planning on making a compressed version of this guide available for easy downloading so you can all put it on your computers at home if you so desire. Let me know if you think this is seems a good or stupid idea *L*.

One quick warning. I'm going off on holiday on Friday 31st July until Monday 10th August so things will remain stagnant for a week as I won't be around to update things. Be assured though that as soon as I get back I'll do my best to whizz through the backlog so don't stop testing!*L*

22/07/98
I've re-done the car list on the left here. Its been cross referenced from official sources so "hopefully" its a complete list! If, however, you find a car thats not on here please mail me quoting the initial bhp, whether its new or used, and name as it appears in your game. There have been a lot of car reviews sent in with names that don't match up to official lists which, as you can imagine, can get a bit confusing for a simple lad like me :) Today I'll be posting up the rest of SaVas's reviews as well as some from Thoasiii and Qman. As usual, if you see anything wrong or out of place please tell me and I'll do my best to fix it.

On a lighter note, I managed to make an NSX take off vertically! During a special stage race at the high speed chicane, the NSX got between my Demio LX G package and the wall. Instead off bumping me or slowing down it simply took off vertically!! I don't no where or if it landed but I felt nothing at all. I've saved the replay and I'm thinking of capturing  it and putting it on this site for a laugh! :)

21/07/98
Well Tuesday arrives on us like a big day beginning with the letter "T" and I have some more reviews for it to contain. Tads, Kami and the magical Podein25 have submited their views on the Prelude '93 Si, Castrol Supra GT, Camaro Z28 and the Alcyone SVX S4 for your viewing pleasure. Also the mighty SaVas has sent me his first reviews, the Eclipse GT, (which is one of my favourite cars!) and the RX-7
Aspec LM edition; and he's busy typing up 2 more!!!Go SaVaS!!*L* So, more to come soon!!

20/07/98
Monday morning again and the coffee flows well :) I've just put up the weekends reviews and we have some new reviewers! Hi and thanks to Hurricane and Shiro for their reports and of course Podein25 for his tireless efforts to win the "most reviews on site" award *LOL* cheers dude! It looks like I may have a lot of "actual" work to do this week so there may be fewer updates than usual. There should be a link to these pages on Shanes site as soon as he stops playing Illusia!!!! *L* So maybe that will bring in some more reviewers and testers!

I'm off to find more coffee!!! See ya soon:)

A quick hello to J.T, Andy and MALLOY!!! the London gang! Hope you guys get that International license soon.:) If all else fails, use the power of the "rat in a shoe"!! He knows the way to victory!!*LOL*

17/07/98
More reviews to post today. A big thank you to all who have sent them in! :) Don't forget that I'm unable to do anything to this site during the weekends. So the earliest I can reply to your emails/or post up your reviews will be on Monday now. I'm wondering how many emails Will be waiting for me on Monday *morning *LOL*. If the "pop-up" window is anoying you simply minimise it (don't kill it). That will keep it at bay. I'm unable to remove it I'm afraid :( One last thing; if you have time; can you check your reviewed car same against the carlist on tonic.net
and match it up. This will help alot, due to the variations of car names on the different versions of GT. Ta :)

Have a good weekend guys and I'll speak to you all on Monday!

16/07/98
Today I've posted up 4 new reviews! Two from Podein25 (the phantom mailer! *LOL*), one from skot and one of mine. The new template is making things much easier and faster for me to layout and post reviews ...which is nice! *L*. I'm going to start checking my "car list" against two other sources, (playstation.com and toxic.net ) to see if there are any differences, and I'll make any changes as necessary.

15/07/98
Off we go! Thoasiii has sent me the first review! He's tested a '92 Mirage Cyborg R so see what he thinks. I've altered the template a bit so as to tidy things up and added the gear ratios section (which I forgot. about!! *L*). I've taken out the comments and setting changes from under the GT Cup results so that all personal coments can be included in the review section. I'll be posting up my review of the Demio LX G package if I have time today!. I'm hoping to link this site up with Shanes "Ultimate Gran Turismo" site in an effort to bring more reviews which will be cool.

For more information or just to keep up with the gossip on GT, go to the The Ultimate Gran Turismo Message board   !!.

P.S. I'm doing this from work so I won't be updating this site or emailing during the weekends!

King Spon  :)
